From the very beginning, our tour leader was excellent. He explained everything in great detail and always at exactly the right moment, whether it was route finding, climbing technique, safety, or what to expect next. His knowledge and calm approach meant that we all felt safe and well looked after throughout the entire tour.

The ridge on the way up to the Taschhorn was certainly a challenging route, requiring concentration, good rope work and teamwork. However, it was also extremely rewarding. We took enough breaks and pauses along the way to keep everyone feeling strong, and the positive spirit within the group made a huge difference. Everyone supported and encouraged each other, and as a team we kept pushing until we finally reached the summit. Reaching the top together made the achievement even more special.

I particularly enjoyed the learning aspect of the ridge. I learned a lot about rope work, managing a team in exposed terrain and understanding the different risks involved when moving on ridges. Our tour leader shared his experience at exactly the right moments, explaining not only what we were doing but also why we were doing it. Everyone in the group also brought their own stories and mountain experiences, which made the whole journey even more interesting and enjoyable.

The atmosphere within the group was fantastic. Our tour leader had a great sense of humour, which kept everyone smiling, motivated and pushing when things became tough. There was a real feeling of teamwork, with everyone helping and encouraging each other along the way.

At the Mischabelbiwak, we enjoyed a well-earned pasta dinner, expertly cooked by our tour leader. He even did the cooking for us — although, quite fairly, he made us clean the dishes afterwards! 🤣 Fair play!

The glacier travel on the descent was another challenging part of the tour. Conditions and the terrain made it demanding, but our tour leader remained completely calm and in control. His experience and knowledge gave us confidence and allowed us to focus on moving safely and efficiently. Thanks to his leadership, we eventually made our way down to Täsch, where a taxi had already been booked and was waiting for us. This meant that we didn’t have to worry about arranging anything ourselves after such a long and demanding day. Everything had been thought of and taken care of.

That was something I really appreciated about the whole tour. Everything felt incredibly smooth and well organised, from the route and safety management to the accommodation, food and transport at the end. We could simply focus on the mountain, enjoy the experience and learn along the way. It made the whole adventure very enjoyable and stress-free, even during the more difficult sections.

What I appreciated most was how generous our tour leader was with his mountain knowledge. Throughout the tour, he shared his experience with me and taught me some really valuable skills that I can take forward into my future mountain adventures. It wasn’t simply about getting us safely to the summit and back; he genuinely wanted us to learn, understand and become better mountaineers.

His leadership, knowledge, humour and ability to bring the group together made a huge difference to the whole experience. He is a real leader — someone who inspires confidence, teaches by example and makes you want to keep going even when the mountain gets tough.

Overall, it was a fantastic tour, with a challenging and rewarding route, great company, excellent leadership and plenty of lessons that I will carry with me into my next time in the mountains. The whole experience was incredibly smooth, well organised and enjoyable, with everything taken care of from start to finish. I am extremely grateful for the experience and would happily join him on another adventure in the future.
